PNB to help SSIs get ISO 9000

BHOPAL: The Punjab National Bank has launched a scheme for assisting small scale industries to get ISO 9000 certification. According to R K Sharma, zonal manager the bank has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Madhya Pradesh Laghu Udyog Sangh, and Ever Win Quality Certification Centre for providing financial help to these units. He said that the scheme would be available to new and existing units irrespective of the bank from which they have already sought assistance. Under the scheme, financial assistance will be provided to cover expenses on consultancy, documentation, certification, and equipment for acquiring ISO 9000 certification. The assistance would be in the form of a term loan and it would not require any collateral security. The scheme has been launched to promote quality consciousness among the SSI units in order to strengthen their marketing and export efforts. “The Punjab National Bank has a long standing commitment towards the SSI units and 25 percent of its priority sector advances for the year ending March 31,2003 have been with these units,” said Mr RK Sharma
